Gehyra es un género de gecos perteneciente a la familia Gekkonidae, que incluye diversas especies distribuidas por regiones cálidas de casi todo el planeta.[2] Se encuentran principalmente en el sudeste de Asia, aunque una de las especies ( Gehyra mutilata ) se localiza en muchos lugares (incluyendo México, Malasia, las Seychelles etc ...) debido a una introducción relativamente reciente.
