Gorgoroth es una banda de black metal noruega formada en 1992 por el guitarrista Infernus junto al vocalista Hat y el batería Goat Pervertor.
Gorgoroth ha realizado numerosas giras en el extranjero, y su alineación ha sido objeto de varios cambios —unos 25 músicos han participado en la banda desde sus inicios, con Infernus como único miembro original.[1] Durante la carrera musical de la banda, varios de sus miembros han sido encarcelados, entre ellos el bajista Kjettar, y Samoth pues fueron a prisión por participar en la quema de iglesias,[2][3] el vocalista Gaahl fue condenado en 2001 y 2004 por asalto, Infernus fue a prisión en 2006 acusado de secuestro, violación y posesión de arma de fuego, pero no fue encontrado culpable, sólo pagó una multa por el arma no registrada. Gorgoroth formó parte del movimiento del black metal noruego compuesto por bandas como Darkthrone, Mayhem, Immortal, Burzum, Emperor, Enslaved, como por algunos seguidores de estas.
En la actualidad la formación se compone por Infernus, Tormentor en las guitarras, Pest como vocalista, Tomas Asklund en la batería, y Bøddel en el bajo.
